Our mushroom compost comprises wheat straw, horse and chicken manure and is free of weeds and pathogens, so is a great, natural landscaping material.

Key benefits:

• An excellent soil conditioner, especially on heavy clay soil
• Improves soil structure (creating larger pore spaces and increasing organic matter content)
• Improves oxygen diffusion and water-holding capacity (encouraging root growth)

With a slow-release, fertilizing effect, it contains most of the major and minor nutrients and works well both as a mulch and dug into the soil.

It is best applied around early spring (annually) before planting so the growing plants can make the most of its properties. However, mushroom compost slightly increases the pH of soil, so is not suitable for ericaceous plants (such as camellias and azaleas).
